ABOUT OUR PERMANENT COLLECTION

The precious and sentimental objects of Crawlspace have been, up until the summer of 2026, haphazardly stored and moved from place to place. Outside of a one-night pop-up, they hadn't been cataloged and kept safe in one space. With the help of Lailey Newton as the archivist and Yaiza Lopez Garcia San Roman as the photographer, all of the silly things that are special to Crawlspace Gallery have been photographed and publicly presented.

Our collection features lots of found and purchased objects. Many works have been sourced from Value Village, the Alberta University of the Arts Studios, and materials left over from previous tenants of the basement Crawlspace resides in. Some works were made by Crawlspace Collective members during their time as students at the Alberta University of the Arts. While students, many participated in the Fluorescent Red Gallery, a gallery with a focus on community building through absurdist artworks and found objects. 

 

Together, many memories have been created. Crawlspace hopes that in archiving and sharing them, they will continue to bring others joy.
